Semester 2
End of S2: This has been a whirl. I have mainly focused on tying loose ends, not really consuming new content. My Vermont/National History Day project has taken up most of my brain space, and this I do not regret. I've begun the next steps of my journey - I have been hired by Nutty Steph's, I also work for a gardener in Montpelier, and I just joined the VCESE. I am in a show this summer called "Growing up LGBTQ+ in Vermont" where I will be playing a character of myself and sharing parts of my story as a queer in VT. Time and ideas have moved so fast, blog posts have become breathy and brief, but emails are flying out the window and I'm trying to bring this run to a brisk walk. My study is still about family, though I haven't exactly focused this quarter around that label, it's more of a foundational aspect of my work.
This semester my focus is around the concept and meaning of family. Based on everything I have learned for the past year and a half in pilot is supplementing what my current projects are becoming. Holding biweekly callbacks, interviewing and being interviewed, finding art, bringing light to and uplifting shadows/silenced history, being a part of current queer and activist culture. Being the best self that I can be at this time and in this space, practicing yoga, meditation, and other forms of physical self care - dancing, body processing through movement, being outside, making fire and other things with nature, interacting with plants and other spiritually aware beings.
Family is so important to me. I am keeping in mind the archetypes of solidarity, the magician, and the archivist. Looking at family, wellness, and all the aspects of social sustainability is only possible when taking into consideration intersectionality, as well as equity.

Semester 1
S1: What a whirlwind this semester has been. I am excited to sort of refresh myself and my studies by capping off all the little threads I've been trying to follow by having my second to last semester presentation. It has been a semester of seeking stories and taking into consideration the weight of events. I had a great time at the Personalized Learning Summit, every GLAMM movie night was hilarious, and I watching "Paris is Burning" for the first time will always have a special place in my heart.
Q1: Last year, pilot changed my life. I decided to stay in this program this year because I knew I needed to continue my independent study. I love the content advisors and my mentors - from last year and this year. Pilot is helping me help myself. I have grown so much in the last two years but pilot has been at the center of a lot of it, and through this program I have come upon countless opportunities to build my skills that I need and want for my adult life in the real world. Social Justice is the goal of my studies, and social sustainability is the overall topic of study.
