"Being a queer-identified person means choosing what I explain and what I leave up to the individual's understanding. Being queer means not having the same social connections as cis/het peers because of their perception of me. Being queer means finding deep love and affirmation within the queer community and with other people of similar identities. Being queer means feeling scared to be yourself when you're around others and too lonely to be yourself when you're alone - or so full of joy and energy and confusion and curiosity that you feel even more separated from "real" life. Being queer means decolonizing love and sex. There can be no separation from BIPOC identities and queer identities. There can be no separation. Being queer means melding and standing out at the same time. Being queer is to have explosive gratitude for queer ancestors, and the strength to tell "allies" that what they are doing isn't quite right. Being queer is a never-ending protest march, party, funeral, and act of resilience all wrapped up in one, with glitter bow on top." (The Chicken or the Grae, Planting Seeds of Temperance)
History - magnus hirschfeld
My Big Project! Magnus is one of the cisgender men I love, and he is amazing because he founded the Scientific Humanitarian Committee and he was a gay Jew. SO much intersectionality for a man at that time, and such a pioneer for sexual science and affirming queer people.

Culture - Art collections
Yes intersectional art! art from black creators! art from women! art of trans women of color and so much more! Also, trans culture has made a little appearance in my work because of Trans Visibility Day, which I did a table in the atrium for and had countless peers engaged and reading!

Miscellaneous social studies/advocacy: I've built SSJ and GLAMM adendas, organized movie nights, and helped move projects forward: in SSJ we have been working towards possibly getting school policy improved/changed to include hate symbols and hate speech. The other big thing we have been working on is Advocacy April, and I'll be doing a workshop on microaggressions. In GLAMM we are trying to figure out how to get more kids to come to callback, and at the same time making sure the people we have are able to go to events and feel like they are in community.
